About Ameena Fareeda
Hello lovely people! My name is Ameena Fareeda, I'm an Illustrator and Designer currently based in Silver Spring Maryland. I've always had a great passion for creation, though my journey had its ups and downs, my voice as an artist solidified as I started to create for myself rather than for others. I primarily create works that sheds light onto AAPI and AA cultural and social experiences. As an Indian Asian- American woman I believe it is important to create work that enhances voices of the Asian American community. Creating work that explored my personal identity in turn allowed me to freely express myself through my work. During the pandemic I felt lost in my work, but I decided to keep fleshing out whatever small idea I had. Eventually my small ideas grew larger and larger and I was able to freely put my work into the world without hesitation. Making super graphic and colorful work is me, and I love sharing who I am.
Tips to fellow Artists:
Having multiple sources of inspiration will help enhance your creative thinking and will help you gain more insight. Take for instance me as a designer, I love seeing how different colors and shapes interact, but it can be a bit overwhelming at times. I turn to reading books, watching movies or cartoons, and listening to music, which in turn is still indulging in different forms of art, but helps me ease the stress of my own projects. We all struggle to find our place in the world, and as a creative sometimes it seems like there's an added amount of pressure when you want to create work that truly represents you. The more you explore and embrace your unique journey, that experience reveals itself in your work. Be truthful to your own personal journey and trust the course it takes you on!
