About Lizette and Liliz Lu Studio

I am Lizette Vieyra, a professional artist, and designer. At a very young age, I found a fascination for recycling materials that people no longer found useful and thus turning them into a completely different and extraordinary piece that people could desire again.

I am from León Gto. Mexico. Where I grew up and learned throughout my life, different techniques that to this day I love to mix. I participated in several art exhibitions, art competitions, and paper-mâché sculptures. For me, this was always my beautiful hobby.

In 2017 I arrived in Australia with all my dreams packed in a suitcase and next to my life partner, my husband Omar Franco, together we decided to live an adventure and get to know the wonderful Australia. It didn't take long for us to fall in love with this land full of multiculturalism and beautiful people, so my desire to share my work increased.

I started making handmade dolls with newspaper, recycled paper, and tree branches, take part in cultural events and some art galleries in Bendigo, Frankston, Ballarat. Months after arriving in Melbourne my surprise was that I got pregnant with my first child that my partner and I were looking for so much, and for health reasons, it had not been possible, but here in Australia in a surprising and really unexpected way, my little Oliver arrived.

It was not until then that the circumstances of my life forced me to make my hobby, what I love to do, it would become my business, a business full of love that has allowed me to be with my little Oliver and little by little to be able to grow and generate income, in order to contribute to the economy of my little big family. Today I no longer only make papier-mache dolls, now I dedicate myself to making collector's pieces made of papier-mache, Mexican dolls, kits full of activities so you can make your own crafts and where you can learn about the technique and some Mexican traditions. like Kit paint your skull where you learn about the beautiful tradition of the day of the dead. I also started to make my collection of jewelry made with the same technique and on a finer and more specific level in order to offer an excellent option of trend in sustainable and ethical fashion.

Currently, you can find my work in some stores in the city of Melbourne, such as QVWC, SISTER WORK, MELKO, and also in some local markets. I'm on Instagram and Facebook as LilizLu Studio.
