Our standard

Ethical manufacturing should be practical, not performative

Ethical manufacturing is not a slogan. It shows up in wages, rest, factory safety, supplier choices, production methods, material decisions, shipping partners, quality control, customer education and how a company responds when something needs to improve.

Our standards are built around three pillars: People, the humans who make everything possible; Planet, the environment we operate within and borrow from; and Product, how things are made, sourced and designed to exist responsibly.

Our belief: a custom product is only truly successful if it is made with care for the customer, the maker, the worker, the supplier, the community and the environment.

The three pillars

People, Planet and Product

1People

Ethical manufacturing starts with fair treatment, dignity, wages, safety and rest.

2Planet

We reduce harm through smarter materials, logistics, reuse, recycling and waste reduction.

3Product

We design for quality, durability, purpose and responsible production instead of unnecessary excess.

4Progress

We review and improve our standards because ethical manufacturing is ongoing.

1. People

Ethical manufacturing starts with fair treatment, dignity and safety

At YourStuffMade, we believe people should be able to earn a living, rest properly and work safely — not just survive. Ethical manufacturing is impossible if the people behind the product are exhausted, underpaid, unsafe or unheard.

216%Our current standard is that staff earn 216% above the local minimum wage.
PaidTeam members receive paid days off during important national and cultural holidays.
SafeUpdated equipment, safety training and proper processes are non-negotiable.
Fair and livable wages

We believe minimum wage should not be the ceiling for fair pay. Wages should support a reasonable quality of life, not just attendance at work.

Time off and rest

Time off is encouraged, not discouraged, because rest leads to better work, better health and long-term sustainability.

Bonuses and recognition

Performance bonuses are provided to share success, not hoard it. When the company grows, our people should grow with it.

Safe working conditions

We invest in up-to-date equipment and tools to reduce risk and physical strain. A safe workplace is a basic right.

Respectful work environment

We do not tolerate exploitation, intimidation or unsafe labour practices. We work to maintain respect, communication and accountability.

Worker dignity

The people behind custom products deserve dignity. This principle shapes our pricing, timelines, supplier expectations and factory relationships.

2. Planet

We minimise harm and take responsibility for our footprint

Manufacturing has an environmental cost. Ethical manufacturing means actively reducing that cost, not pretending it does not exist.

Responsible shipping and logistics

We prioritise logistics partners that publish environmental initiatives, carbon programs or emissions-reduction pathways.

Metal product recycling

Discarded, returned or damaged metal products are collected and melted down so reclaimed metal can be reused in new production cycles.

Fabric and textile reuse

Leftover trims and excess fabric are repurposed into smaller products such as headbands and accessories where possible.

Conscious material sourcing

If a requested fabric composition does not already exist in our supply chain, we first propose existing materials that meet the functional and aesthetic needs.

Less unnecessary processing

Using existing materials can help reduce water usage, chemical processing, energy consumption and excess textile waste.

Knowing when not to produce

Ethical manufacturing sometimes means guiding customers away from wasteful or impractical choices, even if those choices would create a larger order.

Our planet standard: reduce, reuse, redesign, repurpose — and sometimes choose not to create something new at all.

3. Product

Thoughtful design, responsible production and longevity

Ethical products are made with intention, not urgency. Better quality reduces returns, waste and unnecessary remanufacturing. A product that lasts longer is more ethical than one that needs constant replacement.

Purpose-driven production

We do not mass-produce for the sake of volume. Every product should have a clear use case, timeline, audience and reason to exist.

Design with constraints

Ethical production respects technical limits, material efficiency and durability. We guide customers toward realistic, long-lasting designs.

Quality over excess

Higher-quality production can reduce defects, returns, replacement orders, customer disappointment and product waste.

Better customer education

We help customers understand product options, trade-offs, materials, finishes, timelines and production realities before they order.

Responsible categories

We help makers create enamel pins, patches, stickers, charms, keychains, packaging, apparel and custom merch with more care and transparency.

Products with purpose

We support artists, events, charities, fundraisers, communities and creators using products to tell stories and create positive impact.
