Annie is an illustrator based in Los Angeles, California known as Figberrytea. Her illustration style can be described as quirky and whimsical, drawing inspiration from food, nature, and cute things in daily life. Like many, Annie enjoyed drawing as a child but put it aside as school and work took over. However, in 2016, she embarked on a journey to learn watercolor painting and discovered a deep fascination with food illustration. Food became her ultimate motivation to bring out her art supplies and create.
Around 2018, Annie developed a growing love for original and cute characters. She started collecting art prints from talented small artists who created relatable and heartwarming illustrations. While she still cherished food illustration, Annie yearned to evoke the same feelings of humor, nostalgia, and warmth in her own drawings. That's when she began exploring the creation of her own adorable characters, adding funny little faces to everyday objects.
In late 2020, Annie ventured into digital art by purchasing an iPad and the Procreate app. It opened up endless possibilities, allowing her to experiment with styles, colors, and techniques without worrying about wasting art supplies. In the past two years, she has collaborated with various artists, phone case companies, independent businesses, manufacturers, and even clothing retailers. In 2021, Annie established her own store on Etsy, offering prints, stickers, washi tape, and more! As a stationery enthusiast and collector of cute items herself, she designs products she personally loves using. It brings her immense joy to see her creations being shipped to customers all over the world. Tips to fellow artists:
Don’t be afraid to change your style or experiment. Shake things up a bit especially when you start to develop a signature style. Sometimes it feels like you’ve gone two steps back in your progress, but that’s when the real growth happens! Take your time and make things you enjoy.
